Oh boy! We are less than a fortnight out from Conor McGregor’s highly anticipated return to the cage next Saturday.

The October 6th clash against Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov (26 – 0) will mark nearly two years since the Irishman was last seen in the UFC.

Since then a foray into the boxing world against Floyd Mayweather proved to be a lucrative move, but the ensuing mental derailment kept the star in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

After declaring that he and Mayweather were both financially far better off for their bout in 2017, McGregor left many unanswered questions about his future, taking time out with his family in addition to a mad boys trip in Ibiza.

The Irishman didn’t seem to go back to training for at least a month after the boxing match in Las Vegas, a well-earned rest after such a long and gruelling lead-up.

A cage invasion at Bellator 187 where he targeted the referee, Mark Goddard saw him pulled from his recently announced return to the UFC on December 30 2017.

The brain-melt incident occurred when he ran from the crowd, jumping the cage wall, to get to his countryman and friend Charlie Ward, before Goddard had called an end to the fight.

Then came the bus incident where a crazed Conor and his goons went to town on a UFC tour bus carrying fighters for UFC 223.

The incident which saw McGregor throwing a trolley at the bus attracted a plea bargain to avoid jail time, along with 5 days’ community service.

One of the men on that bus was set to become his opponent to wrest back ownership of his Lightweight UFC title: Khabib Nurmagomedov.
