Buzz Aldrin Just Turned 89, He Once Punched A Moon Conspiracy Theorist In The Face
A very happy birthday to the second man on the moon. Buzz Aldrin, one of the bravest and most awesome dudes to have lived is a man who unfortunately has had to defend his claim to fame ever since jealous and deluded conspiracy theorists got hold of debunkable “evidence” that the moon landing never happened.
Imagine being justifiably proud of your achievement, something that only one other person had done before you, and then just seconds before, and then have a hoard of people tell you that you are a liar!
Well once upon a time, back in 2002, Buzz Aldrin, some 33 years after he walked on the moon, came into contact with one such conspiracy theorist who was trying to capitalize on a market of non-believers by creating a ‘documentary’.
Bart Sibrel is described as a ‘controversial filmmaker’ accosted Buzz outside a hotel in Los Angeles and began ranting at him.
Let’s not forget that astronauts are just about the creme-de-la-creme of humans. They are not only insanely smart, being university educated to masters level in a range of sciences, but they also often have had an airforce background that involved an insane strength program. Back in the 1960s, astronauts didn’t have the same technology to mitigate G-forces as well, so Aldrin is one tough dude!
So when Sibrel went up to Aldrin he yelled at him:
“You’re the one who said you walked on the moon when you didn’t. Calling the kettle black if I ever thought it. Saying that I misrepresented myself?”
After a brief, but volatile back and forth, Aldrin was allegedly heard saying, ‘can you get away from me’. Bart then prodded Aldrin with a copy of the Bible and told him he was a ‘coward’ and a ‘liar’. Well, that was it, Aldrin snapped and punched the upstart in the face.
Check out the footage of the incident here. And once again, Happy Birthday, Buzz!
