Tj Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt Ends With Three Minutes of 1st Round Fireworks

The story of the rivalry between T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt is one of the most storied and intense in the entire UFC.

The two were initially close friends, training together at Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male.

The arrival of former kickboxing champion Duane Ludwig as head coach of the team would eventually drive a wedge between Faber and Dillashaw.

Shortly after Ludwig left Alpha Male, Dillashaw went with him creating a rivalry between Team Alpha Male and Dillashaw that was never going to be resolved with words.

After Faber retired in 2016, Cody Garbrandt took up the rivalry with Dillashaw on behalf of his team, with the two being chosen to coach The Ultimate Fighter against each other in 2017.

In the lead-up to their highly anticipated first bout, the pre-fight talk was dominated by claims that members of Team Alpha Male had footage of Garbrandt knocking Dillashaw out during a sparring session when they were training together.

When the elusive footage was finally released it did show Garbrandt dropping Dillashaw, but the initial claims that T.J. was knocked out cold were proved to be false. See for yourself.

When the two finally did square off for the first time in the Octagon at UFC 217, both showcased their incredible skillsets.

Garbrandt, entering the fight as the champion, demonstrated his hellacious boxing abilities knocking his opponent down and nearly finishing him at the end of the first round.

Dillashaw recovered between rounds and showed off his undeniable heart by continuing to fight in the pocket with Garbrandt.

A perfectly timed head kick swung the fight in Dillashaw’s favour before he swarmed Garbrandt with punches to reclaim the UFC Bantamweight Championship.

But the rivalry wasn’t over there.

The two were booked to have a rematch for the belt at UFC 227, with Garbrandt looking for redemption while Dillashaw hoped to conclude the feud between the two.

At UFC 227,  it was Tj Dillashaw who stunned Cody with an impressive first round destroying.
