Conor McGregor Has Waited Exactly One Year To Reignite Beef With Paulie Malignaggi
Whilst Conor McGregor is known as a world-class MMA fighter and a pretty handy boxer, there is another thing the Irishman is known for: being a pest!
Whether it is taunting opponents via social media to instil a reaction, or embedding secret profanities into the pinstripe of one of his bespoke suits, McGregor has a knack for getting under people’s skin and polarising fans around the world.
Die-hard fans will remember that he and Paulie Malignaggi were engaged in some pretty heated exchanges on Twitter last year.
It all started in the lead up to McGregor’s boxing match against the world’s best, Floyd Mayweather.
Obviously, the Irishman required some pretty heavy training and fight simulation prior to jumping into the ring with the undefeated star, and who better than recently-retired Paulie who could obviously still throw a punch or two, but more importantly, knew lots about Mayweather’s style.
But after an amicable start to their relationship, the pair had an epic falling out in the wake of sparring practice at fight camp.
Footage leaked showing grainy footage of McGregor knocking Malignaggi down in practice. However, pundits were split between those who believed it was legitimate and those who believed it was a pull-down. The debate rages to this day.
Whilst Paulie and Conor’s online spat had died off since MayMac, it was McGregor, who in truly antagonistic fashion, jumped back into the stoush on the anniversary of the sparring knock down.
Conor posted a picture of him standing over a Paulie on the mat with the caption ‘Time flies when you are on your ass.’

Well, it doesn’t take much fuel to get Malignaggi firing, with the boxer coming back strongly at McGregor with a written tweet saying:
“Dude has had 2 kids and an ass kicking since this and he still lives off a fake knockdown that he knows wasn’t real lol,” Malignaggi said on Twitter. [Conor McGregor] your feelings are still hurt? Dont get ur feelings hurt u lil bitch its still our lil secret. Don’t run for your life when they ring the bell.”

Time will tell whether the beef has been truly reignited. For the sake of a sideshow in the lead up to UFC 229, we sure hope so! Check out the original pull/knock down below.
