New Angle Of Khabib Jumping The Cage Shows What Really Started Brawl

The sanctions threatened by the UFC and handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission have somewhat addressed what was a chaotic scene after UFC 229. The UFC world watched on with disgust as a victorious Khabib Nurmagomedov broke away from officials, vaulted the cage and hurled himself feet-first at Conor McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis. The outrageous scene saw two members of Khabib’s corner simultaneously jump into the cage to accost Conor McGregor, who bit back. But there has been a fascinating reverse angle of the action which has shed some light on just how the skirmish started.

In the footage, we see that the fight has just been finished as the clip opens. A dejected McGregor sits at the side of the cage contemplating what has just happened whilst Nurmagomedov as beginning his victory parade. The maroon jackets of the Nevada State Athletic Commission enter the cage and within 5 seconds there are cameramen and people everywhere.

But what the angle also picks up is a man approaching Dillon Danis, McGregor’s teammate. The man is identified as Rizvan Magomedov, who runs the New York-based Dominance MMA agency. Just what he is doing on that side of the arena is anyone’s guess. Generally, the two camps are kept separate to prevent this kind of event from unfolding.

Magomedov comes behind Danis and slaps him on the back, perhaps in a patronising gesture. Danis and he become involved in an argument that Nurmagomedov notices from the cage. He reacts by jumping the cage and coming after the guy hitting his agent. Before long the scene has exploded and we see Magomedov throwing punches at Danis as he his protected by security personnel.

The whole insight this new footage provides as fascinating. Was Magomedov responsible for starting the whole thing? In the emotional wake of a McGregor loss, it is understandable that Danis would be upset by an unwelcome confrontation with a member of the opposing camp.
