Saul “Canelo” Alvarez Has A Vicious Message For Conor McGregor

Saul Canelo Álvarez is one of the most formable boxers in the world today.

Having won 49 bouts, losing only one, and drawing two, Alvarez is considered by many to be the most skilful in the world when it comes to boxing.

Unlike Mayweather who wins most of his fights based on evasive and technical skill, Canelo’s attacking style has seen him awarded a staggering 70% of his wins by way of knockout.

But nearly as good as his actual fight are the Mexican’s fighting words.

Back in 2016 before McGregor even broke the news of his upcoming crossover fight with Floyd Mayweather, Canelo and Conor had had a few things to say about each other’s fighting styles.

It never got particularly nasty between the pair, I mean they were never destined to meet each other in the ring nor the cage in any near future.

But that didn’t stop Alvarez from calling McGregor out with a nice little nonchalant message.

Conor may have just pricked up his ears at the comment because it wasn’t soon after that a beef followed by fight announcement with the greatest boxer of all time, Floyd Mayweather was announced.

Floyd had already beaten Alvarez in a hell of a fight back in 2013 (Canelo’s only loss to date). But in an interview where he was being asked his views on the sport of Boxing, McGregor had this to say:

“I’M NOT REALLY TOO MUCH OF A FAN OF EITHER OF THOSE. I THINK CANELO’S A LITTLE BIT STUCK, A LITTLE BIT FLAT ON HIS FEET. WHEN I WATCH FOOTAGE OF HIM I JUST SEE HIM GETTING PEPPERED — HE HAS NO FEET UNDER HIM.”

With the fighter due to fight GGG in a couple of weeks, you can bet he has enough on his plate.

But should he pull off a miracle victory and beat GGG, and Conor beat Khabib – surely rumours might start circulating about this fight.

What a fight it’d be, but I think we’d prefer both men to stick to their actual sports, and rulesets.

Check out Canelo’s nice little call out from back in the day:
