OUCH! Aljamain Sterling blows Cody Stamann’s knee out for submission win
Aljamain Sterling continued his winning ways earlier tonight (Sat., Sept. 8, 2018) at UFC 228 from inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, when he put a stop to hard-nosed bantamweight wrestler Cody Stamann via second-round kneebar submission.

Sterling looked great from the opening bell. He pushed the pressure, landed powerful leg kicks and combinations inside, and won almost all of the scrambles on the ground. In the second, though, Sterling started to pull away even further, and slowly overwhelmed Stamann. Stamann landed a defensive takedown, but Sterling wasted little time getting back mount, raining down punches, utilizing a full nelson, and the finally reaching underneath from the top mount and grabbing the kneebar for the submission.

With this performance, Sterling locks down his second-straight victory at 135 pounds after getting knocked out cold by Marlon Moraes last December. Sterling remains one of the most talented fighters in the division so hopefully he can continue his winning ways and finally make the push towards title contention that fight fans have long waited for.

After the bout, Sterling called out the top of the heap at 135 pounds.
“It’s time to show these guys who is the real top contender in this division,” Sterling (16-3) said.
Stamann (17-2) lost for the first time in the UFC and had a 10-fight win streak snapped.
