Paige Vanzant Just Almost Ripped Rachael Ostovich Arm Out Of The Socket

In what must be considered as one of the best-looking fights in the history of the UFC, Paige Vanzant took on Rachael Ostovich tonight in the UFC’s first event in their landmark partnership with ESPN.

Vanzant came into the fight looking to rebound after two successive losses to Michelle Waterson and Jessica Rose Clark. Prior to those fights, Vanzant had her most impressive showing in the Octagon to that point when she KO’d tough Aussie Bec Rawlings with a perfectly placed switch head kick.

Ostovich meanwhile was looking to earn the biggest win of her career to date, having gone 1-1 in the UFC Octagon since her stint on The Ultimate Fighter Season 26.

The fight was nearly cancelled after news emerged that Ostovich had been hospitalised after been assaulted, allegedly by her husband, and left with a broken orbital bone back in October. Ostovich then publicly stated that she was looking to stay on the card to represent victims of domestic violence on such a large stage. This video shows just how brutal the damage Ostovich suffered in the attack was, making her return to fighting less than three months later even more impressive.

Interestingly, it was announced yesterday that Ostovich was going to have her mother, father and brother working in her corner for this fight, as they are all coaches at their family’s MMA gym in Hawaii.

When you have two fighters that are revered among MMA fans, at least partly because of their good looks, the pre-fight weigh-in is always going to be highly anticipated, with a legion of thirsty fans already congregating in the YouTube comments of this video.

Despite their good looks, both these women really can fight. With both fighters looking to make an impact in the wide-open Women’s flyweight class, it was clear that neither woman was going to fight on such a large stage without leaving everything in the cage with them.
