‘Scary’ Sparring Video of Dana White Explains Why Fighters Are Afraid
Dana White, by presidential standards, is very outgoing. Using Twitter and Instagram as mouthpieces, no subject is off limits and white is quick to shut down opposers. Ever the showman, White has a habit of ruffling feathers with his comments, refusing to remain impartial in many situations in which other presidents would remain tight-lipped.
That being said, White is a man of strong conviction, a trait which has seen the UFC grow to the biggest professional fighting body in the world under his presidency. But punters have always wondered whether Dana’s bite is as powerful as his bark. We may have an answer. See, a video has been released from back in the day, showing Dana beating the crap out of a sparring partner.
The video, set to some vintage ‘Frankie Goes the Hollywood’, was released in preparation for a boxing match against a former UFC star and fighter that White once managed, Tito Ortiz. When questioned by TMZ about his decision to fight an employee – an unheard of situation, Dana unequivocally denied calling out Ortiz. On the contrary, Ortiz was apparently the one to suggest the fight, which Dana accepted.
He began training hard for the even with multiple sessions per day. The boss lost weight, got into ripping shape and was in formidable form in the lead-up. But apparently, on the release of the below video, Ortiz got cold feet and called off the fight. A reminiscent White told TMZ.
“He blinked…I absolutely would have won.”
The feud between the pair began when White became UFC president and could no longer manage Ortiz. After starting that White never did anything for him, they agreed to settle the dispute in the ring. But after months of training, Ortiz never showed up for the weigh-in, prompting a strong reaction from fans that he was running scared.
