UFC Have Just Released Joe Rogan’s Unedited Reaction to UFC 226 Main Event

The story surrounding the fight between Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier and Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 226 was one of the most compelling in recent memory.

Less than one year before the fight, Cormier was defeated by his archrival Jon Jones for a second time via devastating head-kick KO.

Jones would go on to fail a drugs test leading to the result being overturned to a no contest.

Aged 38, Cormier had nothing left to prove.

If he had chosen to retire he would’ve undoubtedly been considered one of the greatest light-heavyweights of all time.

Cormier continued, however, and in January defeated Volkan Oezdemir to cement his status as the best light-heavyweight in the world not named Jon Jones.

With Jones suspended indefinitely, few compelling fights remained in the division.

This led DC to take up a new challenge, as it was announced he would fight dominant champion Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title.

As we covered here at Raw-Daily, Cormier went on to shock the world by defeating the incumbent champion with a vicious first-round knockout. The UFC’s The Thrill and The Agony series captured the scenes following Cormier’s spectacular victory.

One of the most heartwarming visuals shown in the video is that of the broadcast teams reaction. Cormier has worked as a commentator on numerous UFC events, so Dominic Cruz, Jon Anik, and Joe Rogan’s reaction to his shock triumph is compelling.

The video shows the absolute elation on the faces of not only DC’s team but also his parents who were watching from the crowd.

We then see Brock Lesnar, moments before he would enter the cage to challenge Cormier. “I’m happy for DC but I’m gonna take it away, the heavyweight division is weak. I’m back for a reason (expletive)”.

As the name implies, the video also captures the agony of defeat, showing Miocic, clearly still concussed, unsure of what happened.

The video ends with the always humble Cormier thanking UFC president Dana White for all the opportunities that he has been given in the sport.
