Vasyl Lomachenko Just Face Planted Anthony Crolla In Latest Boxing Clinic
Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko has further solidified his place amongst boxing Gods with an emphatic win over Bit Anthony Crolla in Los Angeles overnight. The star lightweight notched up the win in the fourth round with an 8-count knockdown swiftly followed by a devastating knockout. Although Lomachenko was at short odds to win the fight, Crolla presented a challenge insofar as 13 of the 32-year-old’s victories has come by the way of knockout, compared to just 9 for Loma. Also, despite being only a year older, Crolla has vastly more experience having graced the ring for 43 professional appearances. Lomachenko, on the other hand, has fought just 13 times at the top level, for 12 wins.
The fight would prove to be quality over quantity as a tactical masterclass was put on by Lomachenko with a spectacular finish to boot. With the first 3 rounds being scored unanimously in his favour, Loma set about putting an end to proceedings when he managed to get Crolla against the ropes and defending for his life. Clean combo after combo saw Crolla bouncing around like a pinball. The referee called a knockdown however both Loma and members of the California Athletic Commission thought the fight was over.
As referee Jack Reiss halted his count at 8, he turned to see intruders in the ring and Lomachenko, who had since dismounted the roped had to regain concentration in order to finish things off.
It didn’t take long, however, with another superb combination culminated in a right hook that caught the side of Crolla’s head, sending him crashing to the deck unconscious.
