VIDEO: Jon Jones Puts Hands On Gustafsson During The Press Conference

Whilst UFC 230 is about to go ahead in Madison Square Garden, there is already a fair bit of heat being generated for UFC 232 at the end of December. The main reason for this is that drug-banned Light Heavyweight fighter Jon Jones will make his much-anticipated comeback to the octagon when he takes on Alexander Gustafsson for the belt. The fighters will meet for the second time. Back in 2013, Jones beat Gustafsson by a decision that the Swede refuses to accept. This bitterness is still harboured by Gustafsson as was seen during a heated press conference in New York City.

Jones was asked by a packed press gallery, just how he is dealing with all the noise surrounding the controversy of his return to the cage. Speaking from the heart, Jones said:

“I try to block it out…. I’m here. I’m back on the mission I’ve always been on and that’s to solidify my spot as one of the greatest fighters ever.”

He added:

“It was a nightmare to go through So glad it’s over. I’m just focused on positive things in life, like having my job back.”

We are prepared for fireworks in December 29. Gustafsson acknowledged Jones’ status as a hell of a good fighter but said:

“I respected him too much the first time. This fight, I’m not going to give him the respect I gave him the first time… [I want to] show the world you can beat the man who’s never been beaten before.”

The fighters then engaged in a wordless face off. Dana White, arbitrating, told the pair to face the front. As the flash bulbs rattled away Jones decided he wanted a little more limelight, stepping in front of Gustafsson. The Swede was having none of that, returning the favour and stepping back in front of Jones. Jones then took things a step further by shoving Gustafsson roughly to the side before Dana White cam frantically running in to intervene, saying:

“Sh*t! Why did I know that w as going to happen!…I leave you for two seconds!”
